Character

Maine Coons are well-tempered and sociable. They are not loud but make a characteristic sound which resembles the singing of a trill. They are moderately active, but very responsive to what is happening around them. Maine Coons are quite independent. For instance, when they are resting they are not avoiding the contact with the other cats. On the contrary, they are trying to find an isolated place somewhere high up so they can feel like they control the territory. They are known for being loyal to their family and cautious—but not mean—around strangers, but are independent and not clingy. They prefer to play by themselves. Some of them are shy which can be linked to the coloring.
Despite the apperance and size they are not agressive. They can live together with other animals, even though they do not always appreciate a dog in the house; hence they will try to avoid it.
